[ECCS Cloud Email] Using ECCS Cloud Email with unsecure apps

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Updated: April 26, 2017
September 16, 2016

Overview

Mailers which are relatively old are considered to be “slightly unsecure Apps” by Google, and as such you may not be able to use ECCS Cloud Email through it even if you set the email address and password.

How to deal with this problem

As the old mailers are considered to be slightly unsecure apps, you need to set a dedicated password for the application.

Firstly set the ECCS cloud email so that it can be authenticated with a password other than the ECCS Cloud Email password by following the steps given in the Gmail help page "Turning on 2-Step Verification".

In addition, please generate a dedicated app password following the steps given in the Gmail help page "Sign in using App Passwords"

Please complete the email settings using the dedicated password you have generated and the ECCS Cloud Email password. For your reference, only the host name of IMAP/POP/SMTP server is given below, but it is subject to change by Google depending on circumstances. Please refer to the Gmail Help for the latest information.

ProtocolHost nameURL
IMAPimap.gmail.comIt may be described as "Incoming Mail Server" depending on the mailer
POPpop.gmail.comIt may be described as "Incoming Mail Server" depending on the mailer
