Educational Campus-wide Computing System (ECCS)


Contents


The terminals for the Educational Campus-wide Computing System (ECCS) are installed in several locations across the university, such as in the Information Technology Center on Asano District of the Hongo Campus, Information Education Building on Komaba I Campus, as well as in the Fukutake Hall, General Library, Komaba Library, Kashiwa Library, and in some faculties and departments. The followings are brief introductions of facilities that can use the ECCS terminals. For the number of terminals that can be used in each facility, please refer to ECCS Users' Handbook.

Information Education Building: Komaba Campus

The Information Education Building on Komaba Campus has the highest concentration of ECCS terminals within the University of Tokyo.In this building, there are large and small PC class rooms used for information related lectures and study rooms.Please apply to the Academic Affairs Group of the College of Arts and Sciences if you would like to use a PC class room for planned lectures.

The Information Education Building is generally open from 8:00 to 21:00 on weekdays and 12:00 to 18:00 on weekends. However, the building may be closed due to summer vacation, etc. For the actual opening hours, please refer to the the Information Education Building website (sites.google.com)

Information Technology Center: Hongo Campus (from April 4, 2022)

The Information Technology Center is located on the Asano District of the Hongo Campus. There are two PC class rooms and a study room installed with ECCS terminals on the 1st floor of the building. The Information Technology Center is open from 8:00 to 19:00 on weekdays, and closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. Please check the news on our website as the building may be closed due to summer holidays, New Year's holidays, etc.

Large PC Classrooms, Information Technology Center (ITC), Hongo Campus

These PC class rooms can be used for lectures or any other purpose regardless of faculty or department. For those who would like to use the PC classroom for lectures, please refer to the Availability and Bookings (available only in Japanese).

Study room

Study room is open from 9:00 to 17:00 on weekdays. However, the operations may be changed to prevent the coronavirus infections. For the latest information, please see The opening and closing status of rooms installed with ECCS terminals (available only in Japanese).

Fukutake Hall: Hongo Campus

The Fukutake Hall (u-tokyo.ac.jp) is the building on the west side of the General Library. For the exact location of Fukutake Hall please check the access page of the Information Technology Center website (itc.u-tokyo.ac.jp).

The practice room is on the first basement floor, equipped with 20 Mac mini terminals, and an ECCS system assistant will also be working there. The practice room is open from 9:00 to 17:00 on weekdays.

The entrance to the windowless practice room is currently being left open to prevent the coronavirus infections. Therefore, the room is currently unavailable for classes. In addition, the number of available ECCS terminals is reducing to 10.

Distributed ECCS terminals: Hongo, Komaba and Kashiwa Campuses

ECCS terminals and connection environments for portable terminals are also available in the following locations other than the Information Education Building and Information Technology Center.

Libraries

Departments

On Hongo campus, terminals, wireless LAN (UTokyo WiFi) and wired LAN are also available in various faculty buildings such as the Faculty of Law Buildings and Faculty of Engineering Buildings. For the types and numbers of terminals, please refer to 16.1 Terminal locations on the users' handbook or the UTokyo WiFi website (u-tokyo.ac.jp) for information on WiFi. Additionally, please contact the administration office of each department for opening hours.

Note

Please be aware that the terminals will automatically shut down at the closing time of the rooms. Please make sure you save all necessary data before the closing time. The following equipment have been installed in each PC classroom of the Information Education Building and Information Technology Center and are available for lectures, etc.
